About
NTU Indian Dance (NTUID) provides a platform to holistically develop budding and experienced dancers from the NTU student community in various Indian dance forms. We strive to develop versatile dancers by focusing on different dance styles such as Indian Folk, Bollywood, and Indian Classical to name a few. The club is open to all and welcomes dancers with any level of technical expertise.
While beginners have opportunities to train and try out different styles, more experienced dancers can explore the arts further by learning how to choreograph and teach.
The club was recently established in 2019 and has progressed rapidly over the past few years. NTUID is led by a passionate executive committee, is home to many talented dancers and has gained a large number of followers and supporters on social media. Dance schedules during the school semesters generally include weekly training classes to become adept at specific dance styles as well as internal and external performance opportunities. Within NTU, we often collaborate with other clubs for thematic performances such as Mind Matters by WSC, CenterStage by CAC, Earth Hour by NTU Earthlink and Confluence by NTUSU SIC.
In 2022, the club kickstarted the year with a series of mesmerising and energetic choreographies under New Year, New Dance and in June, NTUID participated in Joint Dance Concert 2022. We wrapped up the year with a Semiclassical performance, a Bollywood-Hiphop fusion performance and a flashmob at NTU’s very own AIA Canopy as part of Festival of Lights 2022.
Outside NTU, we have competed on national and international stages such as in the Just Bollywood International Dance Competition organized by Imperial College London and in Chingay SG 2021 where we emerged as one of the top 5 teams in Singapore.
Join us now and take advantage of the myriad of opportunities at NTUID! Discover a hidden talent, have fun and jam to some Bollywood tunes, or become proficient in an Indian dance style! At NTUID, we want you to explore your artistic potential! Want to be more than a dance member? Join our EXCO! We are always looking for talented and passionate members to join our team to spread the legacy of Indian dance.
