CAC Joint Dance Concert 2011
Apr 5th
JDC 2011 seeks to explore the idea of infusing dance with elements of theatre, visual arts and philosophy.
9th April 2011,
7pm,
NTU Nanyang Auditorium
In its fifth year running, the organizing committee seeks to make Joint Dance Concert 2011 bigger and better. This year, the concert will be bound together by the format of a radio show, hence combining visual performing art with audio stimulus. Its stimulating on various levels since the audience will be listening to a radio broadcast while watching a string of dance performances that weaves the different segments of the radio show together.
The title for this year’s concert is “Dance ON AIR“. “Dance ON AIR” is a concert that highlights the very classic and yet very relevant and refreshing mode of entertainment – via the radio. The whole concert will present different segments of a radio show through enthralling dance routines. It explores the idea of infusing dance with elements of radio broadcast, instead of gravity-defying dance moves as suggested by the title. The audience will be treated to an amalgam of visual art and a radio broadcast and how it impacts different people from different walks of life.
From fiery salsa to nuanced contemporary dance, jaw dropping hip-hop and break dance to ethnic Chinese dance, the concert opens your eyes to a wide variety of dance forms. JDC 2011 hopes to spellbound our audience with spectacular and sublime dancing.
In addition, one of the highlights of Joint Dance Concert 2011 will be the fusion item at the end of the concert. It blends the various dance groups to present a splendid mix of different dance styles.
